Finance Manager

Opportunity Finance Manager, collaborating closely with the Director of Finance, will play a key role in shaping and executing our long‑term financial strategy. The Finance Manager works with operations, grant managers, and schools to improve processes and tools, producing actionable, timely, and accurate financial statements and analysis to support our mission of educational reform. Location Green Dot California Central Office, Los Angeles, CA Essential Responsibilities Develop a deep understanding of the organization’s funding models, state and federal education funding sources, key expense drivers, and optimization opportunities. With the Director of Finance, oversee financial strategy, planning, and analysis. Oversee and guide the budgeting process for schools and the Home Office, working with department heads and senior management to ensure strategic alignment with organizational goals. Enhance budgeting tools and identify process improvements. Manage grant budgets and funding projections, assist in preparing grant proposals, and ensure compliance with funding guidelines. Play a larger role in strategic fund management. Prepare quarterly forecasts and present them to management and the Board. Model strategic opportunities such as new schools, facility financing, regional expansion, and grant applications. Conduct standard and ad‑hoc analysis and reporting of financial and operational aspects for management and the Board of Directors. Lead a variety of strategic planning projects across multiple departments to improve organizational efficiency and find creative solutions to complex issues. Assess current financial and accounting processes, identifying areas for improvement and reducing manual data entry errors. Oversee the development of detailed and interactive multiyear projection models—including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flows—for individual schools and the organization as a whole. Develop a deep understanding of the Finance Team’s services and work with school administrators and business managers to ensure high‑quality service delivery. Perform additional duties as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience. Minimum of 4‑8 years in finance or accounting, including oversight of financial planning and analysis. Experience managing projects. Ability to drive strategic decisions with a blend of financial and operational data analysis. Excellent ability to develop and manage financial models and systems that provide actionable data and can be maintained and improved by staff. Creative thinker in managing financial behavior. Strong interpersonal skills, maintaining positive relationships with colleagues at all levels, including senior leadership, central office staff, and school‑site administrators. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a firm grasp of individual project details. Dependable, humble, with a sense of humor, and a firm commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve. Must pass a tuberculosis test and a background check at the time of offer. Job Requirements Work Hours: This position requires consistent attendance during scheduled hours; flexibility is limited by classroom or operational requirements. Breaks: Breaks are structured within the workday and must align with operational needs and student care requirements; extended or frequent breaks may not be feasible in this setting. Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $90,000 – $100,000 (starting range; promotion may offer higher).
