This Accountant 1 role is crucial for overseeing the Department of Facilities' internal accounting and reporting, ensuring compliance with University policies, and maintaining the availability of departmental funds. Mission: This role ensures the department's financial operations comply with university policies, manages fiscal reporting, and supports budget monitoring. Tech Stack: Workday What You’ll Actually Do Financial Reporting: Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports, analyzing trends and reporting findings to management. Budget Management: Assists with budget formulation, monitors accounts, and develops fiscal reports based on current and historical data. Transaction Processing: Verifies accounting classifications, reviews and approves reimbursements, check requisitions, and purchase orders. Vendor Relations: Processes departmental invoices for payment, obtains necessary approvals, and coordinates with outside vendors, contractors, and suppliers. Audit & Compliance: Examines and reconciles expenditure and revenue accounts, interacts with auditors, and ensures adherence to University policies and procedures. The Must-Haves Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related financial field. Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience, including fiscal administration, budget monitoring, and financial reporting. Skills: Strong accounting skills, excellent Excel proficiency, and clear written and verbal communication.
