Job Purpose As a Director of Accounting Operations, you will supervise, monitor and evaluate all day‑to‑day accounting operations across the DCPA, analyze accounting data, produce financial reports, and establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and procedures. You will lead training for all DCPA teams on accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and equity. You will support organization‑wide training for accounting processes; manage timely accounting cycle closes and support the DCPA GL/property insurance programs. Duties and Responsibilities Act as the primary Admin/owner of Sage Intacct including all aspects of module set‑up, staff direction, systems integration, data feeds. Act as the primary Admin/owner of Datablend for all data transfers. Responsible for implementation and oversight of enhanced processes and procedures in the financial systems (Sage Intaact and Ramp) to enhance efficiency and ensure compliance for the DCPA teams and end users. Responsible for all day‑to‑day accounting services throughout the DCPA. Through staff supervision, manage and execute task‑based work for journal entries, accounts payable, fixed assets, revenue, expense processes for the DCPA and Bonfils Foundation. In partnership with CFAO manage the GL/property insurance programs of the DCPA and Bonfils Foundation, including gathering financial data, monitoring fixed asset additions/removals to ensure adequate coverage limits. Collaborates closely with the CFAO and the insurance provider to manage and resolve claims. Serve as a lead contact for DCPA staff for insurance inquiries including assisting in standard reviews for required coverage limits internally and via vendor contracts. Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure and work closely with departments and accounting staff to ensure the structure supports accurate and comprehensive financial reporting. Ensure timely month‑end, quarterly and year‑end close processes. Through efficiency and process change, work collaboratively within accounting and across the organization to achieve reduced work‑load, and minimize schedule delays for close processes. Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly and year‑end financial information. This includes performing and/or reviewing and approving reconciliations, reports, and transactions and researching proper accounting treatment of transactions as necessary. Manage the year‑end close process by working with the team to ensure financials are accurate, audit work papers are complete, and all tasks are finished on time. Perform complex accounting calculations. Supervise accounting staff to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met. Assist Director of Accounting with tax filings including Forms 990 and 990‑T, Form 1099, sales tax, property tax and Facilities Development Admission Tax. Provide support to CFAO, Director of Accounting, Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and other departments by answering financial and accounting questions, identifying solutions, providing financial information and ad hoc reports and other support as needed. Assist the Accounting team with special financial reports such as SCFD annual reporting, industry and government surveys, and grant‑related financial reporting. In collaboration with the CFAO and the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, support the budgeting process by participating in quarterly meetings, reviewing budget‑to‑actual variances, providing departmental reports, and addressing inquiries as needed. Develop, direct and provide training for end‑users on accounting procedures and/or accounting systems. Advise staff regarding the handling of non‑routine reporting transactions. Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department. Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals and providing training. Manage personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, execute performance plans where necessary, etc. Other duties, as assigned. Qualifications Education BA/BS/BBA in Accounting required. Certification Certified Public Accountant preferred. Experience 10+ years of progressive experience in an accounting role. Not‑for‑profit accounting experience strongly preferred. Specialized Knowledge Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, regulations, laws and practices, particularly as they apply to not‑for‑profit organizations. Skills/Abilities Proficient in MS Office. Advanced Excel skills. Experience with Sage Intacct preferred. Experience with Ramp preferred. Ability to manage, direct and supervise accounting staff. Exceptional attention to detail. Strong analytical skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Working Conditions This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position operates in a hybrid office environment in which select days may be remote. This position supervises the Accounting Manager position. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
