Production Supervisor

Location: US Gestamp Washtenaw

Gestamp is a leading international group specializing in the design, development, and manufacture of metal automotive components. The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading, developing, coaching, and motivating high-performance work teams within the assigned manufacturing operation. Focusing on safety, quality, delivery, and productivity, the Production Supervisor will ensure the achievement of daily production goals, identify work stoppages or roadblocks, and implement corrective actions. This candidate will work closely with multiple functional areas to optimize material flows, equipment uptime, and staffing within the area to meet or exceed daily business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise daily production operations to ensure efficient and timely production
• Organize, monitor, and prioritize tasks to meet production goals
• Communicate with other departments and teams to coordinate production activities and resolve any issues that may arise
• Implement and enforce safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for production processes
• Structure a learning environment conducive to the attainment of required operator skills and oversee training
• Evaluate employee performance, provide feedback, and implement necessary corrective actions
• Complete all necessary documentation for record keeping
• Maintain quality by establishing and enforcing production standards
• Resolve personnel problems by reviewing data, investigating issues, and recommending actions
• Lead or participate in incident investigations
• Analyze production data and reports to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to increase efficiency and productivity
• Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs and evaluating new equipment and techniques
• Keep Plant Management informed as to the state of operations in all areas of the plant during the shift
• Responsible for all processes, equipment, team members, safety, and housekeeping of assigned area
• Assign job duties to production team members
• Ensure team members are properly trained on their job, standardized work instructions, control plans, and the importance of monitoring for quality
• Properly isolate rejected material
• Conduct area communication meetings with team members, participate in meetings with other department leads, and management team
• Coordinate maintenance requirements with maintenance department
• Ensure suspect equipment problems are reported in a timely manner
• Assist with corrective action activities which apply to production operations
• Prepare reports recording daily production and scrap
• Ensure reliability of labor and personnel information by recording accurate information into required systems and on required documents
• Communicate customer concerns, process changes, quality concerns, and safety concerns to production team members
• Monitor setup, changeover, downtime, and cleanup accounts
• Suggest changes to increase efficiency and utilization
• Maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility
• Ensure safety of team members through adequate training and enforcement of regulations and standards
• Report any unsafe conditions to Operations Manager and EH&S Representative
• Communicate performance expectations, and perform performance evaluations
• Perform additional tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate

Education and Experience

Minimum of four (4) years of experience in manufacturing production supervision, preferably for an OEM supplier; Minimum of two (2) years of experience in metal stamping and/or robotic weld assembly; High School Diploma required, College degree preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Metal stamping and/or robotic weld assembly knowledge. Computer skills, proficiency using production reporting software, Microsoft Office Ability to create and adhere to production processes Excellent organization, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills Advanced problem solving skills. Ability to lead and motivate teams. Willingness and ability to work overtime as required. Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and active listening. Comfortable managing multiple tasks and competing priorities
