Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Access Control Technician to join our team and support commercial security installation projects in the Savannah, GA region. This contract-to-hire position offers the opportunity to work independently and contribute immediately with minimal training.

Responsibilities

• Install access control devices including card readers, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, strikes, magnetic locks, and associated hardware.
• Install, terminate, troubleshoot, and support commercial security and access control systems.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation documentation.
• Perform system testing, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Troubleshoot wiring issues, device failures, and system operation problems.
• Program, configure, and support security system components as required.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to execute project schedules and deliverables.
• Communicate directly with customers and other trades on project sites.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and communicate progress updates.
• Operate independently while maintaining customer service standards.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 3+ years of verifiable access control or commercial security installation experience.
• Reliable transportation.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to travel throughout the Savannah service territory.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Understanding of access control devices, wiring methods, and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of circuits, electrical systems, and low-voltage installation practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools and power tools.
• Strong communication and customer interaction skills.
• Stable work history.
• Ability to confidently discuss prior project experience during technical interviews.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of access control installation experience.
• Experience with platforms such as Lenel, Genetec, Software House, Avigilon, OpenPath.
• Experience with CCTV and integrated security systems.
• Experience with electronic door hardware, strikes, mag locks, and related devices.
• Electrical backgrd or formal electrical training.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Scissor lift certification.
• Experience working in commercial construction environments.
• Experience supporting healthcare, education, municipal, industrial, or large commercial projects.
• Customer-facing service experience.

Work Environment

The work environment involves supporting commercial projects from Monday to Friday, 8-5pm. This role requires proficiency in construction skills and understanding of system plans, with familiarity in blueprints, design drawings, wiring methods, and cable support installations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $36.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
