Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg night shift position in Austin, TX, requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience and an active TX or compact RN license.

Details

• 32-bed Med/Surg unit on the 4th floor of an acute care hospital in Austin, TX
• Patient population includes post-surgical, kidney transplant, dialysis, and diabetic patients
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Patient ratios: 1:5 on days, 1:6 on nights
• Rotating weekends required (at least every other weekend)
• No on-call requirements
• EMR: Meditech
• Equipment includes Welch Allyn vital signs machines and iMobile iPhones and radios with headsets for staff communication
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Experience with transplant, dialysis, and diabetic patients is preferred
• ACLS certification is preferred
• Navy scrubs required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates will not be considered
• Unit was recognized as Unit of Distinction in 2021
• Day shift staffing: 1 charge nurse, 6 RNs, and 3 PCTs; Night shift staffing: 1 charge nurse, 5 RNs, and 2 PCTs
