Salary: $70,000 - $95,000 per year A bit about us: The Billing and Collections Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of the firm’s client billing cycle, ensuring accurate and timely processing from prebill review through invoice transmission, mailing, and e-billing submission. This role works closely with the Billing and Collections Manager to support attorneys and staff while delivering a high level of client service. The Specialist handles daily accounts receivable and collections inquiries, including providing invoice copies and corresponding with attorneys regarding account balances and client requests, and also assists with deposit preparation and cash receipts posting. Prepare and distribute pre-bills, review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests. Handle complex billing and client-driven requests, investigate issues, and provide solutions. Monitor collections for attorneys, maintaining regular contact with attorneys to ensure all client costs and expenses are billed in a timely manner. Generate monthly reports for attorneys, highlighting any issues or concerns regarding outstanding invoices. Collaborate with attorneys and other staff members to implement best practices for billing and collections. Maintain and update client billing guidelines, rates, and contact information. Process adjustments to bills in response to attorney or client requests. Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required. Research and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues and problems. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal billing, preferably in a law firm environment. Proficiency in elite or aderant, e-billing hub, and other related software. Strong understanding of e-billing in a law firm setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions. Knowledge of AR and the ability to monitor collections for attorneys is essential.
