Job Title Behavior Intervention Specialist Location CP Rochester – Rochester, NY Salary $27.70 - $30.75 per hour (commensurate with experience) Employment Full-time 37.5 hours per week. Monday through Friday during business hours. Evening work may be required as job duties demand. Summary/Objective Evaluates the behavioral, cognitive, and emotional functioning of individuals with developmental disabilities, offers recommendations and positive approaches to assist with behavior modification and development of new skills, and functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing services in accordance with individual needs and Life Plans. Required Education and Experience Must meet one of the following requirements: National Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA) or a NYS license as a Behavior Analyst (LBA) and a Master’s Degree in behavior analysis or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology; Either a Master’s Degree in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology or applied psychology, or related human services field, or a NYS license in mental health counseling, and OPWDD-approved specialized training or experience in functional assessment techniques and behavior support plan development; Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field, and have provided behavioral services for an agency in OPWDD system continuously since 2012 and actively working toward a Master’s Degree. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated excellent listening skills. Valid NYS Driver’s License. Computer proficiency. Competency Requirements Communication Proficiency. Essential Functions Impart the agency philosophy of “Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential” to individuals, families, program staff, and community resources. Maintain confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy. Provide behavioral diagnostics and behavior management programs and interventions. Develop a meaningful and realistic plan of service to maximize independence, productivity, and community integration. Develop and deliver services in areas including but not limited to behavior management planning and functional assessments. Recommend environmental modification for individuals as needed. Train staff in behavior management plans, interventions, environmental modifications, crisis interventions, results of assessments, diagnosis, and prognosis. Document all diagnostic assessment reports, management plans, and progress notes accurately and in a timely manner, and provide such information to the treatment team as needed. Achieve program and department goals by performing other responsibilities as required. Consult with agency staff regarding the social and emotional needs of the individual and the family. Assist staff in modifying attitudes and patterns of behavior by increasing their understanding of themselves, the individual, and their situation. Perform observations as needed. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, identify emotional and social problems of individuals. Attend meetings as assigned. Attend monthly supervision with a licensed Psychologist or LCSW. Assist in the periodic re-assessment of treatment plans in accordance with established procedures and regulatory agency requirements. Update behavior plan and medication monitoring plan on an annual basis and as needed. Maintain documentation that meets the standards of the agency, regulatory agencies and the standards of care. Adhere to agency, regulatory agencies and professional policies, procedures, and standards of care. Participate in conferences, workshops and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development. Adhere to agency’s policies and procedures as well as department guidelines. Supervisory Responsibility None. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Frequently must lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Travel Primarily local during the business day; employee may be expected to work at any of the partner agencies. Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
