Job Description

The Maintenance Technician supports the reliable operation of CNC machinery and related equipment by performing start-up, shutdown, corrective, and preventive maintenance. This role works across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, ensuring equipment uptime and safety in a busy machine shop environment. The technician actively patrols the production floor, responds to equipment issues in real time, and collaborates closely with other shifts to maintain continuous operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance on all production equipment, with a primary focus on CNC machines.
• Start up and shut down CNC machines and related equipment safely and efficiently.
• Conduct corrective maintenance to quickly address and resolve equipment breakdowns and failures.
• Carry out preventive maintenance (PMs) on CNC machines and associated systems to reduce unplanned downtime.
• Inspect the production floor regularly to identify down machines and equipment issues, in the absence of a formal work order system.
• Respond to maintenance calls from operators and supervisors, diagnosing issues and implementing timely repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems on CNC equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with PLC-controlled systems, including Siemens and Fanuc controls.
• Work with welding, pipe fitting, rigging systems, gear boxes, bearings, and quality instruments as needed for repairs and installations.
• Use appropriate measuring and quality instruments to verify proper operation and alignment of repaired equipment.
• Document work completed during the shift and clearly communicate what was done and what still requires attention to the next shift.
• Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and production staff to prioritize tasks and maintain equipment reliability.
• Follow safety procedures and best practices while working on energized equipment, moving machinery, and heavy components.
• Maintain and use a personal set of basic tools to perform daily maintenance tasks.
• Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring issues and suggesting maintenance or process improvements.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience working with CNC machinery in a maintenance capacity.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining hydraulic systems.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining pneumatic systems.
• Experience with electrical troubleshooting on industrial equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience repairing mechanical components such as gear boxes and bearings.
• Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting, specifically Siemens and Fanuc controls.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on CNC machines.
• Experience with PLC-controlled systems and the ability to diagnose control-related issues.
• Competence in reading equipment conditions and using quality instruments to verify proper operation.
• Ability to work independently on a production floor without a formal work order system.
• Capability to communicate clearly with other shifts about completed work and outstanding issues.
• Ownership of a basic set of tools suitable for maintenance work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a machine shop or similar industrial environment.
• Experience in welding for repair and fabrication tasks.
• Experience with pipe fitting and rigging systems for equipment installation and movement.
• Comfort working with Fanuc and Siemens CNC controls beyond basic troubleshooting.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to established safety procedures.
• Ability to work rotating or alternating shifts as required by a 2-2-3 schedule.

Work Environment

This role is based in a machine shop environment operating on a 2-2-3 schedule for both day and night shifts, typically from 6:30 to 6:30 on A and B shifts. The facility is not climate controlled, so temperatures will vary with the seasons, but fans are positioned at each machine and station to improve air circulation and comfort. The position involves working on and around CNC machines and industrial equipment, including exposure to noise, moving machinery, and standard shop conditions. Technicians use a variety of tools, including their own basic tool set, as well as welding, pipe fitting, rigging, and measuring equipment to perform maintenance tasks. Appropriate work attire suited to a machine shop, along with adherence to safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements, is expected.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Heber Springs, AR.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Heber Springs,AR.
