Senior Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager

We are looking for a Senior Plant FSQA Manager to lead food safety and quality assurance for one of our largest facilities. The candidate will oversee all FSQA programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in a high‑volume production environment. Responsibilities Oversee all food safety, quality and regulatory programs to ensure USDA/FDA compliance, maintain audit readiness, and manage relationships with inspectors. Lead root cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and maintain product integrity from raw material to finished goods. Cultivate continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with FSQA and Operations to prevent HACCP, SSOP, and process failures; develop plans, strengthen controls, and train staff. Design and manage the facility’s sanitation program, including audits, microbial testing and performance tracking. Lead the development, maintenance and reassessment of SQF Food Safety and Quality Plans. Supervise, develop and retain an FSQA team: manage staffing, schedules, performance reviews, training, and cross‑training. Collaborate closely with plant and corporate leadership to align on strategy, performance and continuous improvement. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience; 8+ years in the food industry. Minimum 2+ years of demonstrated team‑management or project‑leadership experience. Hands‑on experience with microbiological testing of meat and poultry products; knowledge of USDA, FSIS, HACCP, SSOP and QMS systems. Proficiency with SAP, database and inventory software tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to address regulatory, customer and internal inquiries. Strong decision‑making, problem‑solving and documentation skills with a focus on compliance. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment with professionalism and adaptability. Willingness to travel up to 10% and work extended hours or weekends as needed. USDA/HACCP certification, SQF Certified Expert status and familiarity with SPC/statistics preferred. Bilingual skills considered an asset. Physical Demands & Work Environment The role is plant‑based with wet and humid conditions, exposure to fumes, airborne particles and chemicals.
