Secondary Art Teacher

Develop and implement a flexible, engaging high school art classroom that fosters creativity, skill development, and a positive learning environment. Motivate learners to develop artistic skills, critical thinking, and an appreciation for the arts, adapting instruction to meet diverse student needs and abilities. Collaborate effectively with parents, colleagues, and the broader school community to support student success.

Bachelor's Degree Required

Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Art Education or applicable teaching fields.

Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, and follow state and district guidelines.

Deliver standards-based art instruction aligned with the Oklahoma State Department of Education and district curriculum.

Plan and implement engaging lessons and instructional materials that differentiate to meet diverse student needs.

Use a variety of instructional strategies, including whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction, to maximize learning.

Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment that supports student engagement and positive behavior.

Establish clear expectations for student behavior and build strong, respectful relationships with students.

Assess student learning through formative and summative measures; monitor academic and social growth and adjust instruction accordingly.

Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress in accordance with district and state requirements.

Identify student needs and work with appropriate staff to support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.

Communicate effectively and consistently with parents, students, and staff regarding student progress and the instructional program.

Collaborate with colleagues on instructional planning, data analysis, and school-based initiatives to improve student outcomes.

Supervise students in classrooms and other assigned settings, ensuring safety and appropriate behavior at all times.

Support school programs through participation in assigned duties, including co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain and improve instructional practices.

Adhere to district policies, procedures, and expectations, including attendance at required meetings and compliance with contract hours.

Support district initiatives and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment priorities.

Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or superintendent.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common academic journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to district leaders, public groups, and/or boards of education.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Develops cooperative and functional relationships with district staff and the public; maintains consistent and punctual attendance; ensures job responsibilities are met competently and within established deadlines. Ability to develop and work with complex data spreadsheets.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Exposure to public complaints may occur during the workday.

Subject to stress caused by a changing environment, deadlines, and a heavy workload.

Limited exposure to health hazards, including chemical cleaning agents.

Primarily require working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
