Assets Protection Specialist

Pay Starting pay range: $20.25 - $22.25 per hour. Full pay range: $20.25 - $34.45 per hour. Pay is based on labor markets, education, work experience and certifications. About Assets Protection The Assets Protection (AP) team works to keep guests, team members and the brand secure. They mitigate shortage risks, prevent theft and fraud, and collaborate with store leaders and public safety officials. Responsibilities Create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience by delivering on commitments such as greeting guests with a smile, helping them find items, resolving issues, and ending transactions with a sincere thank you. Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude. Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience. Support total store sales and guest service by ensuring products are in stock and available, preventing and resolving theft. Resolve theft by using good judgement and conducting apprehensions in shortage focus areas while strictly adhering to AP policies and procedures. Identify theft trends by leveraging technology, reporting and surveillance tactics. Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues. Understand and use video systems to monitor theft activity. Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation for all incidents following AP policy and procedures. Promote a physical security and safety culture for team members and guests by creating awareness and training safe and secure standards throughout the building. Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences. Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible. Maintain positive work relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement. Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests. Perform all other duties as required by business needs. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent. Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position. Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members. Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed. Effective communication skills. Work both independently and with a team. Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently. Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes. Climb up and down ladders. Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy. Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds. Flexible work schedule (including nights, weekends and holidays) and ability to arrive on time for scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks. Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity and other elements while performing certain job duties such as Drive‑Up or carry‑out. Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift, which may vary in length.
