Our payment products include merchant acquiring services, a proprietary gateway, ACH processing, fraud & chargeback tools, analytics, and other value-add services. Maverick's team includes underwriting, risk management, compliance & legal, technology & product development, on-boarding, customer support, information technology, and more.Reporting to the SVP, Operations the Project Manager supports and delivers internal initiatives within our payments acquiring operations by executing defined projects, coordinating cross-functional partners, and ensuring milestones are met on time and within scope. This is an individual contributor role focused on day-to-day project execution, coordination, and problem-solving rather than people management or portfolio oversight. This role partners closely with internal stakeholders across Product, Risk, Compliance, Underwriting, Operations, Legal, and Business Development to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with departmental and company objectives.Execute assigned projects from intake through completion, managing tasks, timelines, dependencies, and deliverablesCoordinate closely with internal teams including Product, Engineering, Risk, Compliance, Underwriting, Operations, Legal, and Business Development.Serve as the primary project liaison across internal teams to drive alignment and accountabilityLead initiatives related to:Merchant onboarding, activation, and lifecycle workflowsAcquirer, processor, and sponsor bank requirementsRisk, fraud, compliance, and monitoring programsInternal tooling, platform enhancements, and process improvementsDevelop and maintain project documentation, status updates, and reporting for departmental leadershipIdentify and proactively mitigate risks, particularly those impacting acquiring operations or regulated/high-risk verticalsEnsure projects adhere to internal controls as well as card network, acquiring, and regulatory expectationsSupport continuous improvement efforts by refining project management practices and standards within the departmentQualifications:3–5 years of project management or operations experience in Fintech, payments, or financial servicesDirect exposure to payments acquiring, merchant processing, or related payment operationsWorking knowledge of the payment lifecycle, including authorization, settlement, chargebacks, and disputesExperience using project tracking and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, Confluence, Smartsheet, Monday.com)Strong organizational and prioritization skillsAbility to translate operational, technical, or regulatory requirements into actionable project plans.Detail-oriented with the ability to see broader process and business impacts..Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving payments environment.High degree of ownership and accountability.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams with competing priorities.Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.Execution-focused with strong attention to detail.Clear communicator able to coordinate across technical and non-technical teams.Comfortable working in structured but evolving environments.Solution-oriented with sound judgment on when to escalate.Reliable follow-through and ownership of assigned work.Preferred:Experience supporting high-risk merchant portfolios or regulated payment verticalsFamiliarity with underwriting, enhanced due diligence, or chargeback monitoring processesPrior collaboration with Risk, Compliance, or Legal on operational initiativesExposure to acquiring banks, processors, gateways, or sponsor bank relationshipsProject management certification (PMP, Agile, Scrum) is a plus, not requiredWhat We Offer:Competitive salary, bonuses, and incentives.Comprehensive employer-sponsored health, vision, and dental insurance programs.Paid time off, paid sick, and paid holidays.401K plan with up to a 4% matching contribution.Commitment to career development and advancement.Employee recognition programs & company-sponsored eventsVibrant office culture, team building, birthdays, work anniversaries, snacks, and more!Pay Range: $95K - $115KThis position will consider hybrid work schedules for candidates near Greater Houston or Los Angeles areas.
