Location

Headquartered in Houston
Travel required nationwide (project-based assignments)

Position Summary

The Traveling Superintendent - CSA is responsible for the on-site execution, coordination, and supervision of all civil, structural, and architectural scopes on mission-critical and data center construction projects.

This role is a field leadership position accountable for:
  • Driving schedule performance
  • Enforcing safety and quality standards
  • Managing subcontractors and field labor
  • Coordinating with project management and client teams
The ideal candidate has 10+ years of construction experience and has successfully led projects with 20-50+ subcontractor personnel onsite, preferably within mission-critical, industrial, or large commercial environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Field Leadership & Execution
  • Lead day-to-day field operations for CSA scopes across assigned projects
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, field crews, and vendors (20-50+ personnel typical)
  • Maintain tight control of schedule, sequencing, and work flow
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with contract documents, drawings, and specifications
2. Mission-Critical Schedule Management
  • Execute work in high-pressure, schedule-driven environments (data centers / critical facilities)
  • Identify and mitigate schedule risks early
  • Coordinate closely with MEP trades to avoid conflicts and delays
  • Support pull planning and short-interval scheduling (2-6 week lookaheads)
3. Safety Leadership
  • Enforce strict compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, site walks, and hazard analysis
  • Maintain a zero-incident safety culture
  • Ensure all subcontractors adhere to project-specific safety requirements
4. Quality Control & Inspections
  • Ensure all work meets project quality standards and tolerances
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and third-party QA/QC requirements
  • Maintain punch list tracking and drive timely closeout
  • Identify and correct deficiencies proactively
5. Subcontractor Management
  • Direct and manage subcontractors to ensure:
    • Productivity targets are met
    • Workforce is adequate and properly staffed
    • Work is aligned with schedule and sequencing
  • Hold subcontractors accountable for performance and compliance
6. Coordination & Communication
  • Serve as the primary field point of contact between:
    • Project Managers
    • Engineers and design teams
    • Client representatives
    • Inspectors and AHJs
  • Participate in weekly coordination meetings and reporting
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and field documentation
7. Logistics & Site Management
  • Plan and manage site logistics including:
    • Deliveries and material handling
    • Equipment staging
    • Site access and laydown areas
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient jobsite
8. Traveling Role Expectations
  • Travel to project sites nationwide (often 100% during active assignments)
  • Work extended hours as required to meet project demands
  • Represent the company professionally in all client-facing interactions
Qualifications

Experience
  • Minimum 10+ years of commercial construction experience
  • Proven experience as a Superintendent on projects with:
    • 20-50+ field personnel
    • Multiple subcontract trades
  • Strong background in CSA scopes:
    • Sitework / civil
    • Structural steel or concrete
    • Building envelope and architectural finishes
Preferred:
  • Experience on data centers, mission-critical, or industrial projects
  • Experience working in live or high-reliability environments
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Construction drawings and specifications
    • Scheduling (lookaheads, sequencing, critical path awareness)
    • QA/QC processes
  • Familiarity with tools such as:
    • Autodesk ACC, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software
    • Creating RFI's, managing submittals, safety documentation.
Leadership Skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate large subcontractor teams
  • Strong decision-making under pressure
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • High level of accountability and ownership
Certifications (Preferred)
  • OSHA 30
  • First Aid / CPR
  • Additional safety or field leadership certifications a plus
