Southern University and A&M College, in collaboration with Alliant Insurance Foundation and the Louisiana Department of Insurance, launched a bold diversity initiative focused on accelerating the growth of Black professionals in the insurance industry. Alliant Insurance Foundation

The Alliant Insurance Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded on the belief that engagement and education are powerful catalysts for success in our business, our industry, and our world. Our mission is to develop talent in the risk management and insurance industries by broadening access to career opportunities and providing support and resources to individuals with varied backgrounds and life experiences who are interested in pursuing careers in these industries. We do our work by developing educational partnerships, job-training programs, and support systems to make a lasting positive impact on our industry and within the communities where we operate.

Description

Alliant Insurance Foundation's Southern University initiative includes a Risk Management and Insurance degree program, which was built upon the Louisiana Department of Insurance's Risk Management and Insurance concentration program in SU's College of Business. This is the first such program at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU). Through a grant funded by Alliant Insurance Foundation, students enrolled in the program can obtain scholarships to cover tuition as well as paid fellowship opportunities over three summers of their college careers. Additionally, students will work closely with SU College of Business and Alliant Insurance Foundation to obtain job opportunities upon graduation.
