Cloud Migration Architect — LLM-Driven Infrastructure

Columbia, MD | Full Time | TS/SCI with Polygraph Required

Position: Cloud Migration Architect (System Engineer, Level 3)

Location: Columbia, MD (on-site)

Category: Systems Engineering / Cloud-Native / AI-Assisted Infrastructure

Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Compensation: $181,000 – $220,000 (annualized USD)

Experience Requirement:

• 12+ years with a Bachelor's degree, OR

• 10+ years with a Master's degree, OR

• 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree

Description

This position requires a Lead Systems Engineer to direct the development of Content Delivery Network (CDN) infrastructure through advanced AI integration. As a technical lead, you'll guide an engineering team in using large language models (LLMs) to generate and manage Terraform configurations.

A primary focus is prompt engineering and identifying the behavioral nuances of various models to ensure highly accurate, production-ready infrastructure code. You'll define the strategies for interacting with AI systems, iteratively refining prompts, and establishing rigorous quality-control processes for all AI-generated output.

You'll also collaborate with engineering management and stakeholders to ensure that AI-driven infrastructure meets enterprise scalability and security standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team in leveraging AI tools to design, generate, and deploy CDN infrastructure using Terraform.

• Formulate and refine complex AI prompts to consistently produce secure and optimized Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for quality and efficiency, adjusting prompting strategies to account for model hallucinations, nuances, and limitations.

• Establish best practices, standardized workflows, and review processes for the team regarding AI interaction and prompt engineering.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to define architectural requirements and translate them into effective AI directives.

Skills Requirements

• Experience leading software engineering teams and managing technical infrastructure projects.

• Experience with prompt engineering, demonstrating a deep understanding of the nuances, capabilities, and limitations of modern LLMs.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, with practical experience using Terraform for resource deployment.

• Experience reviewing, validating, and debugging AI-generated code or infrastructure configurations for production environments.

• Knowledge of Content Delivery Network (CDN) concepts and cloud-based hosting environments such as Cloudflare.

• Familiarity with Git and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) to manage team workflows and version control.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with prompt management frameworks and AI evaluation metrics to track model performance.

• Experience translating and communicating complex AI and infrastructure concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.

Compensation Employment Policy

Salary is determined by multiple factors, including location, education, experience, skills, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $181,000 – $220,000 (annualized USD).
