The Program Coordinator for the Center for e-Learning & Professional Credentials provides operational, administrative, and programmatic support for the Center’s workforce development, professional learning, and credentialing initiatives. Working under the direction of the Director, this position assists in coordinating programs that bridge academic offerings with workforce and industry needs while supporting the development and delivery of micro-credentials, digital badges, certificates, and other professional learning opportunities. The Program Coordinator collaborates with faculty, staff, students, employers, and community partners to coordinate program logistics, maintain records, support outreach and engagement efforts, monitor program data, and assist with grant-funded initiatives that advance the mission of the Center. 

This opportunity is supported by a federal grant through the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education. 

This full-time, grant-funded position is on site at Averett’s Main campus in Danville, Virginia.

Key Responsibilities

Program Coordination and Operations 

• Facilitate the day-to-day delivery of Center programs by supporting scheduling, registration, meetings, workshops, events, and participant communications.
• Organize program information and resources so that students, faculty, and instructors have timely access to materials needed for successful participation.
• Coordinate program timelines and activities in collaboration with the Director, faculty, and university partners.
• Assist students and faculty with navigating administrative processes associated with Center programs.
• Support the Director with special projects and emerging initiatives that enhance student learning, faculty engagement, and the overall effectiveness of the Center.

Micro-Credentials, Badges, and Course Development 

• Support students and faculty throughout the implementation and delivery of micro-credentials, digital badges, certificates, and professional learning opportunities.
• Facilitate the accurate and timely issuance of digital credentials and certificates for eligible participants.
• Assist faculty and the Director with organizing credential requirements, learning outcomes, supporting documentation, and participant completion records.
• Promote awareness and understanding of credentialing opportunities among students, faculty, staff, and other university stakeholders.
• Help ensure that credentialing processes provide a consistent and user-friendly experience for students and faculty.

Student and Program Support 

• Guide students and program participants through registration, onboarding, program requirements, credential completion, and other Center-related processes.
• Support students by responding to questions, connecting them with appropriate university resources, and helping address barriers that may affect participation or completion.
• Facilitate clear and timely communication with students regarding programs, workshops, professional learning opportunities, credentials, and upcoming activities.
• Enhance the student experience by assisting with program logistics, participant engagement, surveys, evaluations, and follow-up activities.
• Connect students with relevant professional development, credentialing, career-readiness, and skill-building opportunities offered through the Center.

Faculty and Instructional Support 

• Partner with faculty and instructors to support the development, delivery, and administration of courses, micro-credentials, digital badges, certificates, and other professional learning experiences.
• Assist faculty with program logistics, instructional materials, participant communications, learning technologies, and credentialing processes.
• Facilitate collaboration between faculty, the Center, and university departments involved in the development and delivery of credentialing and e-learning initiatives.
• Support faculty in navigating learning management systems, digital credentialing platforms, and other technologies used in Center programs.
• Gather faculty feedback and program observations to help identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Student and Faculty Engagement

• Engage students, faculty, and staff in Center programs, workshops, professional learning opportunities, and credentialing initiatives.
• Support outreach efforts that increase student and faculty awareness and participation in Center programs.
• Facilitate communication among students, faculty, and university departments to support program delivery and participation.
• Represent the Center at university events and activities as assigned.
• Cultivate positive working relationships with students, faculty, and university partners to strengthen collaboration with the Center.

Data, Assessment, and Grant Support

• Capture student participation, credential completion, program engagement, and other relevant information needed to demonstrate program outcomes.
• Gather participant feedback following programs and events to support continuous improvement and future planning.
• Assist faculty and the Director with reviewing program feedback and outcome information to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support the preparation of reports, dashboards, presentations, and documentation related to student participation, credential attainment, faculty engagement, and program effectiveness.
• Help ensure that student and program records are secure, accurate and aligned with university and grant requirements.
• Contribute to FIPSE reporting and assessment activities by organizing information related to student outcomes, program participation, credential completion, and Center initiatives.

Communication, Outreach, and Events

• Inform students and faculty about upcoming credentials, workshops, professional development programs, and Center initiatives.
• Promote Center opportunities through appropriate university communication channels in collaboration with relevant university departments.
• Facilitate workshops, information sessions, webinars, faculty meetings, student engagement activities, and other Center-sponsored events.
• Welcome and assist students, faculty, presenters, and guests participating in Center programs and events.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Workforce Development, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in workforce development, higher education, or a related area, with a strong understanding of skill-building and credentialing.
• Demonstrated experience building partnerships with industry, community organizations, and educational institutions.
• Familiarity with micro-credentials, digital badges, and career readiness programming.
• Strong data management and reporting skills, with experience in federal or state grant reporting and monitoring systems preferred.
• Excellent communication, project management, and team leadership skills.
