Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary telephone operator for the office.
• Update the established patient’s demographics as needed and yearly.
• Scan insurance cards and photo ID.
• Check in patients for office encounters.
• Collect money due on account from patients.
• Verify referrals were obtained for each patient office visit and update.
• Check out patients and schedule next appointment.
• Review the encounter and print all orders for the patient.
• Print the patient summary.
• Balance charges/payments at the end of the day.
• Prepare deposit envelopes for the business office daily.
• Open all mail received, including interoffice mail, sort appropriately.
• Maintain work area and lobby in neat and orderly fashion.
• Schedule office related appointments.
• Translate to/from English and Spanish as it pertains to your job responsibilities.
• All other duties as assigned.
Medical Assistant Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Answer and Triage calls
• Triage Critical Labs
• Prescription Refills
• Prescription Prior Authorizations
• Coordinates Dialysis Admissions
• Rooming patients as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.

Competencies:
• Familiarity with office machines (i.e. fax, printer, etc.)
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Strong communication and people skills
• Good organizational and multitasking abilities
• Problem solving skills
• Customer service orientation

• Must be able to sit at a desk for approximately 90% of the day.
• Should have good finger dexterity, clerical perception, motor coordination, and eyehand coordination.
• Should have good visual acuity.
• Possess ability to talk, sit, use hands, hear, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive motions.
• General physical office activity involving some lifting and moving of materials or boxes.

Travel: No travel required.

Work Environment – The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

• This position works in an environment with moderate noise level. (Examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic.) No anticipated contact with blood, body fluids or tissues.
