Part Time Gym MonitorThe YMCA of Newark and Vicinity is seeking Part Time Gym Monitors for contract groups contracting the Gymnasium. Schedules vary depending on the groups using the gym. Gym Monitors are responsible for monitoring all gym activities, enforcement of YMCA operating policies and procedures, and ensuring a safe, clean, and positive environment for the participants. The YMCA's recruitment process includes comprehensive background screening including pre-employment drug test and criminal background check and upon hire, mandatory training sessions.Summary of Essential Functions:Enforce all gym rules and policies to maintain a safe and fun environment.Maintain constant surveillance of members and guests within the gym, racquet ball, squash courts, and the surrounding area.Present professional appearance and interaction at all times and maintain a high standard of customer service.Build professional and cordial relationships with YMCA staff members, guests, members, and volunteers.Perform opening and closing procedures as assigned.Coordinate traffic flow with the membership desk.Coordinate and monitor equipment usage with the membership desk.Record gym usage as requested by supervisor.Provide care for members and guests in case of an emergency in the gym.Periodically tour operating locker rooms.Record incident reports for issues that occur in the gym area.Ensure on-going cleanliness of the gym and facility and assist in maintaining the gym and court areas clean.Facilitate age-appropriate activities during open gym.Attend staff meetings and any scheduled training sessions as required.Maintain a safe work environment, free of clutter, debris and hazardous conditions and ensure cleanliness of facility.Provide excellent customer service and care for all including but not limited to internal and external customers/members/residents/visitors/clients/patrons/vendors/suppliers/members of public/volunteers/staff.Demonstrate and model the YMCA's four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.Perform such other job-related duties as may be periodically assigned by the Supervisor.Adhere to Abuse Risk Management policies:Adhere to policies related to boundaries with program participants.Attend required abuse risk management training.Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising program participants.Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.Minimum Requirements:High School Diploma or equivalency.Flexible schedule and available to work when groups have contracted the gym for usage.CPR and First Aid Certification or obtain immediately upon hire.Strong interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills.Experience in customer service, gym/fitness membership-based organization, or similar environment.Work Environment & Physical Demands:Sufficient strength, ability, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and to perform activities.Ability to Carrying (50lbs.), Lifting (50lbs.), Pulling (50 lbs.), Pushing (50lbs.)Ability to walk, stand, bend, stretch, kneel, squad, sit, climb.Schedule: Weekday and weekends 6:00 pm -11:30 pm - Staff may select a few shiftsThe YMCA of Newark and Vicinity is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
