Overview Nurse-Midwifery Faculty - Ambulatory Only Location: US-OR-Portland Posting Department: School of Nursing Posting Salary Range: $157,705.60-$202,072.00 Posting FTE: 0.75 Job Type: Faculty | Position Category: Faculty/Provider | Position Type: Regular Part-Time HR Mission: Academics | Drug Testable: Yes Responsibilities Function/Duties of Position: The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research): Practice that emanates from the School of Nursing is expected to support the teaching practice and research mission of the School. In the practice environment, teaching occurs concurrently with clinical activities. The primary expectation is the provision of clinical midwifery services to patients in the ambulatory setting of the faculty practice. Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant supported work, presentations, etc.): Participates in scholarly activities based on faculty rank. Education Activities (include types of teaching and types of student taught): Clinical education and supervision of graduate nurse-midwifery students (and other students) in the provision of the services to patients in faculty practices. Midwifery students are with faculty 90% of the time. Mentors and advises students. Service Activities : These activities could include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program or Academic Director. Participates in faculty governance; additional engagement based on rank. Administrative Activities : As negotiated. Other Activities : The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Qualifications Education (Degree dependent on academic program type and rank of position): Instructor: MSN or equivalent Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor: PhD/DNP or equivalent Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses (Current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program): Oregon RN license Oregon APRN license BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) AMCB/ACNM Certification Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred Experience (Experience dependent on academic program type and rank of position): 2 years of clinical practice experience. Work Details Work Expectations: Working Conditions (such as travel expectations, exposure to auditory and visual stimulation, frequent interruptions, etc.): Frequent interruptions in an environment of frequent changes and fluctuations May be exposed to excessive auditory and visual stimulation May be required to attend out of town conferences according to School of Nursing travel and reimbursement policies May be exposed to body fluids, tissue, possible radiation exposure, and infectious processes Subject to computer work for several hours, as needed Able to use all appropriate patient care equipment and office equipment within work area Physical Requirement/Demands of the Position (take off unapplicable sections as needed): Standing: On concrete, vinyl, or carpeting up to 4 hours per day and intermittently Sitting: Chair or stool continuous up to 8 hours per day and intermittently Changing Positions: Intermittently, as needed Walking: Intermittently up to 4 hours per day on concrete, vinyl, and carpeting Carrying: Up to 50 pounds for intermittent periods and distances Lifting: Up to 50 pounds intermittently throughout the day Pushing/Pulling: Up to 100 pounds, intermittent, throughout the day Bending: From the waist and knees, frequently throughout the day Reaching/Handling: Fine manipulation, repetitive, gross motor requiring full ROM in upper extremities, including overhead reaching Twisting: All ROM required, intermittent periods, throughout the day Climbing: Staircase, intermittently throughout the day Weekend, Holiday, Evening, Night, and Call Expectations: Day, weekend, holiday, and night shifts are required Evening ambulatory services may be required Bargaining Unit: Advanced Practice United (APU) Benefits As one of Portland’s largest and premier employers, OHSU is committed to providing comprehensive, affordable, and customizable benefits for our employees.
