Our organization is in search of a dedicated full-time Thoracic Surgeon to become a part of the Johnson Family Cancer Center team situated in Muskegon, Michigan.

Practice Highlights:

• The Johnson Family Cancer Center, along with its oncology partners, offers comprehensive and compassionate care tailored to the individual needs of each patient, leveraging the latest advancements in medical technology and treatment.
• This center is integrated into the Cancer Network of West Michigan, a collaboration between our organization and a prominent health institution, aimed at delivering extensive cancer care throughout the Grand Rapids Metropolitan area, Muskegon, and the scenic West Michigan lakeshore.
• The Thoracic Surgeon will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Radiation and Medical Oncologists, Pulmonologists, and Gastroenterologists, to ensure seamless and comprehensive patient care. The support team at the Cancer Center comprises Nurse Navigators, Social Workers, Dietitians, Financial Counselors, and Advanced Practice Providers.
• This role involves performing a variety of thoracic surgical procedures, particularly focusing on lung and esophageal surgeries, with a special emphasis on Robotic-Assisted Thoracic Surgery.
• The Thoracic Surgeon will collaborate with colleagues at the Trinity Health Lacks Cancer Center and the University of Michigan Health-West Cancer Center, as well as the Cardiothoracic Surgery team.
• This position will play a vital role in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing surgical outcomes, ensuring patient safety, and improving overall healthcare delivery.
• The Oncology program is a significant service line within our organization, and through the Cancer Network of West Michigan, it is undergoing expansion with investments in facilities, equipment, and program development.

Qualifications:

• Candidates must be board certified in their specialty or board eligible, with the expectation of obtaining board certification within two years of becoming board eligible.
• A valid State of Michigan medical license is required at the time of employment.
• Possession of a DEA license is necessary.
• BLS Certification is required, with maintenance of recertification.
