Assistant/Associate Professor of Pathology Job ID: R-0002825 Location Kansas City Campus Job Type Faculty Job Description Kansas City University (KCU) is adding to our Pathology team and is seeking a new Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology & Anatomical Sciences on the Kansas City campus. This individual will contribute to the education of students; engage in service opportunities to effectively and positively promote the University, the discipline, and the profession; and actively engage in the advancement of research and scholarly activities. Application Documents CV/Resume Letter of interest (cover letter) Summary of your teaching philosophy Essential Duties and Responsibilities Use innovative teaching methods and the application of learning sciences in medical education Deliver lectures and active teaching sessions for assigned courses Develop curriculum with a focus on students' board preparation and overall professional development Create and provide a detailed course syllabus that includes topics and learning objectives for each lecture or learning exercise Prepare exams and quizzes that effectively test students' mastery of course content Complete activities related to the student assessment process, including evaluating test questions, performing exam/quiz analysis, and submitting grades Conduct course evaluations, analyze the data, and present results, make recommendations for changes, develop modifications, and implement improvements Provide service to the department and the University by serving on committees Provide student advising and mentoring, including office hours Engage in research/scholarly activity and continued professional development Participate in Admissions activities, Commencement, and White Coat ceremonies Understand accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adhere to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards Conduct research and case studies in the field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks Conduct oneself appropriately, professionally, and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of KCU Qualifications MD, DO from an accredited institution Board certification in Pathology, with certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology favored Previous teaching experience (especially in a medical school) preferred Three-to-five years of practical experience preferred Ability to work effectively with colleagues, the public and private organizations Equal Opportunity Employer KCU is committed to promoting an equal employment opportunity workplace.
