The Opportunity

As a dedicated Business Process Owner Senior for the USAA Perks program , you will serve as a strategic partner responsible for the design, execution, governance, and continuous improvement of critical business processes that support program performance and member value. You will coordinate executive-level planning activities, manage operational controls and compliance requirements, develop performance reporting, and drive initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness and scalability. Leveraging a deep understanding of business processes, risks, controls, and performance objectives, you will proactively identify opportunities for improvement and implement practical solutions that optimize business outcomes and employee experience.

The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of business process management, portfolio operations, governance, reporting, and operational excellence experience. They are equally comfortable coordinating executive-level planning activities, managing operational controls and compliance requirements, developing performance reporting, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that increase organizational effectiveness and scalability. They bring a natural curiosity to understand how processes work, proactively identify opportunities for improvement, and implement practical solutions that enhance business performance and employee experience.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week.

This position will be based in San Antonio, TX office location .

What you'll do:

• Lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of business processes that support the USAA Perks program, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy, business objectives, and member value.
• Partner with stakeholders to develop and enhance business capabilities, processes, and operating models that improve organizational effectiveness, scalability, and business performance.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor, bringing an end-user focused approach to process design, problem solving, and solution development.
• Manage process performance by establishing controls, monitoring key performance indicators, evaluating outcomes, and driving corrective actions and improvements when needed.
• Own and enhance operational and compliance controls to effectively mitigate risk and ensure adherence to business and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate executive-level planning activities and develop communications that keep stakeholders informed, aligned, and positioned to achieve strategic objectives.
• Foster strong partnerships across stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of business process initiatives, operational priorities, and strategic objectives.
• Leverage reporting, data, and analytics to evaluate process effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide actionable insights to leadership.
• Lead business case development, requirements gathering, and implementation efforts for process improvement initiatives that deliver measurable business value.
• Stay informed of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously enhance processes, capabilities, and operational efficiency.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to team members and business partners, helping to promote process excellence and knowledge sharing across the organization.
• Provide business insights and performance intelligence to support planning, research, analysis, and the implementation of new or enhanced capabilities, products, services, and processes.

• Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

• Bachelor's degree; OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• 6 years of experience in business process execution, operational governance, portfolio operations, consulting, process engineering, and/or process optimization, with demonstrated success improving organizational effectiveness and business performance.
• Experience applying quality management, process improvement, and problem-solving methodologies to drive measurable business outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience leading and sustaining change initiatives, including the successful implementation of process improvements.
• Hands-on experience with process mapping, process modeling, and the creation, validation, and maintenance of process documentation.
• Knowledge of process management standards, governance practices, applicable regulations, and risk management principles.
• Demonstrated experience with Lean, Business Process Management (BPM), or similar continuous improvement methodologies.

• Experience utilizing data, reporting, and analytical tools to collect, interpret, and communicate business insights and process performance.

What sets you apart:

• Demonstrated experience serving as a Business Process Owner, Business Operations leader, Portfolio Operations leader, Association Planning Office (APO) leader, or similar role with accountability for enterprise-scale operational processes and governance.
• Experience establishing, administering, and improving portfolio planning processes, including annual planning, quarterly planning, PI Planning, roadmap planning, or other large-scale cross-functional planning events.
• Proven ability to establish and govern operational controls, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operating models that support audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and sustainable operational excellence.
• Experience designing and managing governance frameworks, including preparation of governance artifacts, executive reviews, compliance reporting, and decision-making processes.
• Demonstrated success developing and maintaining business performance scorecards, KPIs, performance metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting mechanisms, including translating operational data into actionable business insights for leadership teams.
• Experience supporting forecasting, financial planning, budget administration, variance tracking, or related business management processes.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives that require stakeholder alignment, dependency management, requirements development, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across complex business environments.
• Knowledge of Agile planning practices, Lean Portfolio Management, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), or similar enterprise planning methodologies.
• Exceptional organizational and facilitation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders, drive accountability without direct authority, and operate effectively in environments with competing priorities and complex governance requirements.
• US military experience gained through military service or gained as a military spouse / domestic partner.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $93,770.00 - $179,240.00 .

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
