As Section Chief, you will work closely with Dr. Andrew Herman, Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and the Children s Miracle Network Endowed Chair in Pediatric Medicine.

Together, you will build and grow a premier pediatric neurology program, recruit and mentor outstanding clinicians, expand academic and research initiatives, and advance a shared vision for exceptional patient-centered care.

Lead the Future of Pediatric Neurology

Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) seek an accomplished pediatric neurologist to serve as Section Chief of Pediatric Neurology. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a growing pediatric neurology program, shape clinical strategy, expand academic initiatives, and advance innovative care for children throughout Southwestern Virginia and the surrounding region.

The Section Chief will provide leadership across the continuum of pediatric neurological care while guiding program development, physician recruitment, quality initiatives, and multidisciplinary collaboration. This leader will play a central role in advancing the vision for pediatric neurology care and program development within one of Virginia s premier children's hospitals and an integrated, physician-led health system.

Build and Lead a Comprehensive Pediatric Neurology Program

• Lead the strategic growth and development of Pediatric Neurology services
  • Expand access to specialized pediatric neurology care throughout the region
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Strengthen multidisciplinary partnerships across pediatric specialties and related clinical disciplines, including neurosurgery, rehabilitation, developmental pediatrics, and epilepsy care
  • Advance quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives
  • Support educational programs for medical students, residents, and future trainees
  • Foster clinical research and scholarly activity through Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certification in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
  • Minimum of five years of leadership experience in an academic medical center and pediatric neurology practice setting
  • Demonstrated success in program development, physician recruitment, and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Commitment to clinical excellence, education, quality improvement, and patient-centered care
