School Business Manager Job Description

Summary:

Under the direction of the head of school, the Business Manager oversees the financial and administrative operations of school. Strong bookkeeping and human resource experience is required . The Business Manager will play a crucial role in managing budgets, ensuring financial compliance, and optimizing resource allocation directly participating in departmental administrative decision making, implementing and enforcing school policies and procedures. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong financial acumen, and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and stakeholders to support the school's mission and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Monitors, manages and participates in the development of the school’s annual budget.

·       Performs a wide variety of human resources generalist duties including administration, recruitment, compensation and benefits, health and safety, employee relations, and processing and maintenance of employment documents.

·       Manages personnel records, contracts, and employment agreements.

·       Ensures compliance with state and federal policies, procedures, and regulations.

·       Oversees petty cash disbursements and purchasing.

·       Oversees accounts payable and accounts receivable, student billing and reconciles multiple credit cards.

·       Coordinates with the CFO on all requested projects, including annual audits.

·       Originates scheduled and special reports, and correspondence.

·       Maintains personnel records.

·       Responsible for executing contracts and signing checks when a second signature is required. 

Knowledge, Ability & Skills Required:

·       Knowledge of education finance laws, regulations, and best practices.

·       Extensive knowledge of human resources and payroll processes.

·       Strong financial analysis and budget management skills.

·       Proficiency in financial software and tools.

·       Ability to analyze, develop, establish, and maintain efficient workflow and administrative processes.

·       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

·       Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

·       Ability to gather data, compile information, and originate reports.

·       Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.

·       Ability to analyze and solve problems.

Bachelor’s degree with directly related management expertise in administration and human resources gained through at least two years of equivalent-level work experience.
