Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 9 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience Minimum 2 years of critical care/tele experience 1 year travel experience for Travel positions (not required for Per Diem positions) License: Registered Nurse license in Client upon hire in good standing Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Must-Have: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model and nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs while applying critical thinking skills in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in delivering nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning post-hospital care while delegating to others as appropriate. Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team. Manages assignments within the Care Delivery Model and demonstrates effective allocation of resources. Role models patient-centered care through facilitation of various actions including admission welcome, bedside shift report, and purposeful hourly rounding. Considers patients' values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs in all aspects of care. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients and families. Uses evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for patients and family members who have concerns and escalates to appropriate management as needed. Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue, body language, and actions. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care while identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served. Engages in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to implement quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research studies. Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures. Implements principles of high reliability to identify and avoid high-risk behaviors to provide a safe environment for patients. Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps in best practices following institutional protocols. Documents nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives. Performs charge nurse duties as assigned. Coordinates with clinical leadership to ensure supplies are utilized appropriately and inventory meets patient care needs. Escalates resource deficits to appropriate clinical leadership. Documents accurately and thoroughly in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal requirements. Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis. Contributes to a supportive environment for clinical colleagues, patients, and their families. Advances clinical competence to progress from novice to expert. Projects a professional image and communicates with caring, respect, compassion, and empathy. Incorporates ethical principles into decision-making for patients and families. Encourages a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, and life-long learning for self and others. Participates in shared decision-making through specialty practice councils, nursing department committees, and unit initiatives.
