Captain

We’re looking for a Restaurant Captain to join our team at Altair NYC .

The Restaurant Captain is a senior service professional who works closely with our management team to support daily floor operations and ensure we consistently deliver a high level of hospitality.

This is a hands-on leadership role , and we’re looking for someone who can lead by example, read the room, support the team, and recognize what our guests need without always waiting to be asked.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support the service team throughout daily operations.
• Maintain a strong floor presence and ensure Altair’s service standards are consistently executed.
• Monitor tables, service pacing, and overall guest satisfaction.
• Maintain strong knowledge of our food, cocktails, wine, and beverage offerings.
• Support Servers, Runners, Bussers, Hosts, and Bartenders whenever needed.
• Assist with guest concerns and communicate any issues promptly to management.
• Assist with training and coaching both new and existing team members.
• Participate in pre-shifts, menu education, and ongoing service training.
• Maintain clear communication between the dining room, kitchen, bar, host team, and management.
• Help ensure accurate POS use, order execution, and check handling.
• Ensure opening, closing, side work, cleanliness, and restaurant presentation standards are maintained.
• Maintain a professional, polished, positive, and hospitality-focused presence at all times.
