Licensed Optician

General Function A licensed Optician at Sunglass Hut will serve as an ambassador of the Sunglass Hut brand by delivering great service through the Sunglass Hut Experience. You will be an on-the-floor leader, filling ophthalmic sunglass prescriptions and fitting/adapting lenses and frames. You will also perform all functions related to the Sunglass Hut Experience and store operations to support and assist management in achieving sales goals, and learn and maintain the policies and procedures for opening, closing, and operating the store. Major Duties and Responsibilities Welcome all customers and set expectations. Custom fit glasses and precisely place the prescription in lenses. Act as a leader in optical acumen. Take and record measurements, accurately adjust and fit eyewear with attention to detail, ensuring finished eyewear meets standards and customer needs. Assist team with complex product needs and prescriptions. Use technology accurately and thoroughly despite time pressure and customer volume, demonstrating exceptional product knowledge and using appropriate tools. Proactively explore root causes of issues, forward‑think, ensure customer satisfaction, and exceed expectations. Multi‑task, prioritize, and manage time with competing priorities. Strive to achieve exceptional results on brand KPIs and competencies. Take pride in store appearance and help keep the store clean, attractive, and organized. Be resourceful, self‑motivated, and eager for continual learning, improvement, and results. Adhere to company policies and procedures, including discounts, promotions, and inventory management. Basic Qualifications High‑school graduate or equivalent. State licensure in opticianry. Optical dispensing experience. Strong customer‑service skills: communication, listening, and team building. Knowledge of current store merchandise. Strong basic math skills. Awareness of current fashion trends. Selling skills – ability to use and carry an iPad or tablet. Familiarity with POS, computers, and calculators. Embrace new technology and change. Preferred Qualifications Previous customer‑service and retail experience.
