Job Summary Vacancies: 1 Area of Consideration: Open to the Public Position Status: Full-Time, Regular Pay Plan, Series & Grade: DS0058/8 Salary Range: Up to $62,365 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Location: 4200 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington D.C., 20008 The Athletic Trainer assists in the management, coordination and administration of all aspects of injury prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for all student-athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program. The Athletic Trainer provides holistic health care, wellness education and counseling for student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer assists in developing and monitoring policies and procedures regarding athletics-related medical insurance, pre-participation physical examinations, medical services and related activities to ensure the University has a comprehensive health care plan for student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer assists in managing mandated concussion management, sickle cell, drug testing and acclimation-to-sport protocols, consistent with NCAA and East Coast Conference regulations. The Athletic Trainer has an essential role in allocating medical care resources to support a growing NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletic program for men’s and women’s sports. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides high-quality injury/illness prevention and care for all student-athletes through recognition, evaluation, management, treatment and rehabilitation. Provides coverage during assigned team practices and home competitions; serves as first responder by recognizing and evaluating injuries. Follows emergency protocols and coordinates arrangements for the student-athlete to receive competent medical care. Assists in managing appropriate medical records and reports related to participation physical examinations, medical updates, sickle cell testing, injuries and rehabilitation. Assists in conducting concussion baseline testing, monitors concussion and return-to-play protocols. Consults team physician and physical therapists as needed. Works closely with the Associate AD for Sports Medicine, Sports Performance Coach and Aquatics Director to implement strength, agility and conditioning training of student-athletes. Assists in managing athletic-related insurance claims and protocols. Assists with operation of the athletic training room, including operation and care of all modalities, equipment and supplies used for treatment and rehabilitation; prepares training supplies for home and away contests. Manages sports medicine coverage in the absence of the Associate AD for Sports Medicine. Minimum Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree – Master’s degree preferred. CPR/AED certification. NATA certification. District of Columbia Department of Health license.
