Weight Handling Equipment Inspector/Mechanic

Job Title
Perform inspections, tests, and make necessary assessment and repairs to a wide variety of Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) used for lifting and moving of specific materials and supplies.
Make necessary repairs and assists in the preparation of Shop Repair Orders (SRO) to properly document each repair operation.
Make recommendations to supervision when inspection reveals unusual damage, deterioration or conditions where repairs are economically questionable, concerning inspection findings and other corrective actions.
Correspond with the local crane engineer as well as the Navy Crane Center (NCC) to ensure that alterations and modifications are approved and adhere to all applicable standards and regulations.
Serve as the Load Test Director and conduct load tests, operational tests, various type of proof tests, and related actions necessary to recommend certification or acceptance of WHE at NRL and associated field sites.
