Director, Facilities Intelligence Tools
This is a unique, newly created role with direct reporting and strategic partnership across senior leadership, including the Vice President & Chief Technology Officer, Vice President of Facilities Infrastructure & Safety, and Senior Director of Facilities Services. Designed to intentionally bridge Facilities Services and Technology & Digital Solutions (TDS), the Director, Facilities Technology and Intelligence Tools serves as the connective tissue between operations, strategy, and technology. The dual reporting nature of this role truly sets the stage for transformation in Facilities Services with direct executive oversight.
In this role, you'll help define how Stanford Health Care uses data, digital platforms, and emerging AI to operate smarter, safer, and more predictively across a complex healthcare environment. You won't sit on the sidelines. Working closely with Facilities Services leaders and TDS partners, you will turn real operational challenges into scalable tools and insights that improve reliability, efficiency, and decision making across Operations, Infrastructure, Planning & Design, and Construction.

Our team offers essential non-clinical support 24/7, ensuring safe operations and planning for future needs. We represent the intersection of planning, construction, general services, and facilities operations.
The Facilities Infrastructure & Safety (FIS) business unit is vital in ensuring the safety, security, and operational integrity of Stanford Health Care facilities while also managing disaster preparedness and complex building systems to foster a secure healthcare environment. FIS is made up of multiple departments aligned in focus: Environmental Health & Safety, Facility Field Services, Protective Services, Security Services, Office of Emergency Management, Facilities Engineering - Systems, Operational Technology, Facilities Engineering- Infrastructure, Facilities Services Response Center, and Facilities Administration and Operations.

The Director, Facilities Intelligence Tools (FIT) serves as the business leader and primary liaison to Technology and Digital Solutions (TDS) for translating Facilities Services needs into scalable digital and data solutions. The Director stewards the FIT vision (efficiency → automation → insights), leads governance and intake for AI/digital use cases across Operations, Facilities Infrastructure, Planning & Design, and Facilities Construction, and ensures solutions are measurable, support operational excellence, and comply with Stanford Health Care (SHC) privacy, security, and regulatory standards.

- Work with the Facilities Services senior leadership team to plan and coordinate both short- and long-term system strategy and implementation. Includes building consensus and facilitating alignment around initiative prioritization, requirements definition, design specification and budgeting. Assure initiatives align with the strategic imperatives of the organization.
- Develop and manage departmental budget.
- Manage the implementation of data systems and monitor of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Systems with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to ensure their effectiveness in meeting business unit needs.
- Develop and implement strategies for gathering data from operational databases and third- party vendors for inclusion in the warehouse.
- Lead the development and maintenance of policies and procedures that meet tactical and regulatory requirements for the department.
- Manage and coordinate work with all vendors, contractors, consultants, and the Stanford Medicine Children's Health (SMCH) Technology organization in order to maintain and enhance goals.
- Serve as liaison between non-technical business units and Facilities Services leadership, communicating technical information and plans.
- Performs other duties as assigned and participates in organization projects as assigned.
- Adheres to safety, Pay for Performance (if applicable), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and compliance policies.
- This position may require on-call availability during non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet business needs and respond to emergencies as necessary.
Education Qualifications
- Job requires a Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered. Relevant experience in lieu of degree is in addition to the experience requirements for this position.
Experience Qualifications
- Experience: 7+ years relevant experience; 5+ years leading multi-workstream programs or portfolios with measurable business outcomes.
- Technology Proficiency: Advanced user of Microsoft 365 and Power Platform (Power BI/Automate/Apps); ability to specify and steward agentic/automation use cases (e.g., Copilot) in partnership with Technology and Digital Solutions (TDS).
- Facilities Systems Exposure: Hands-on familiarity with at least two of the following domains: BMS/controls (Metasys/ALC/Apogee/Delta V), EAM/Maximo, FDD/Clockworks, power/PME, lighting/TempTrak/Lutron, security (C•Cure/Milestone/Ontic), parking (AVPM/Somnium/Genetec/Ensight), space/occupancy (Archibus/R-Zero).
- Work Location: Must be on-site (not remote); travel between SHC sites as required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of system architecture and management of building management, card access, enterprise video, fire life safety, lighting, pneumatic, and other enterprise systems.
- Skill and ability to translate concepts into well defined, documented technical requirements and present them to senior leadership.
- Strong organizational skills. Self-starter with a need for minimal intervention or supervision.
- High technical aptitude with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to appropriately adjust communication for the audience.
- Ability to effectively facilitate group meetings.
- Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner to varying external constituents.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with peers, subordinates, leadership, and healthcare providers.
- Ability to identify problems and seek solutions using appropriate resources.
- Ability to prioritize and manage staff with multiple competing priorities.
- Ability to design and implement processes and oversee execution with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to clarify directions when needed to continue tasks.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $89.01 - $117.94 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
