Automotive Installation Technician - Telematics, Mechanical

Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations Requirements Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics Comfortable using hand and power tools Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work Professional communication and customer service skills Valid driver's license and clean driving record Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers 21+ years of age Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience is nice to have Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms is nice to have 12V/24V electrical experience is nice to have Commercial truck or trailer experience is nice to have ADAS scanning or calibration experience is nice to have ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications are nice to have Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions Protech uses E-Verify to confirm the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in installing and troubleshooting GPS, ELDs, and telematics systems on various vehicles, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
