Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient safety. Ability to float within scope of practice as needed. Description: This is a busy surgical oncology unit caring for both PCU and Med Surg patients. The goal staffing ratio is 1:4, but can extend to 1:5 based on unit needs. Weekends are scheduled based on unit requirements. No set scheduling is offered, and travelers may float within their scope of practice. Assignments are reviewed every four-week scheduling period. The patient population primarily consists of adults and geriatrics. Patient diagnoses include a variety of surgical oncology cases such as breast, thyroid, melanoma, and hepatobiliary cancers. Special procedures performed on this unit include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and management of oncologic emergencies. This unit requires a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention measures. Travelers should have up-to-date acute care experience, preferably in similar settings. Only candidates actively working in the previous 12 months will be considered. All candidates must be prepared to complete necessary credentialing requirements promptly.
