Adjunct – Nursing (Practical Nursing) The Adjunct – Nursing (Practical Nursing) position provides quality instruction and maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, with major emphasis placed on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students. The role provides instruction and monitors teaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by the Department Chair or other leadership members. The incumbent must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask while engaging large groups of people with complicated material. Instruction & Student Learning Teaches assigned courses as scheduled. Designs curriculum embracing diversity to foster talent in students while modeling inclusive teaching strategies. Considers individual differences of students and designs a range of learning activities. Identifies students with academic needs and responds using appropriate resources. Uses technology appropriately and communicates expectations regarding its use. Maintains accurate records, attendance, grades, and provides progress feedback throughout the semester. Distributes accurate syllabi that incorporate departmental, college, cross‑college, and instructor requirements. Conducts classes punctually, employs assessment techniques to measure achievement of course goals and objectives. Participates in periodic meetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chairperson regarding teaching duties and professional development. Student Engagement & Advisement Creates a positive classroom atmosphere encouraging active and collaborative learning. Uses technology to support communication and community among students. Refers students to appropriate academic support services. Culture of Respect Fosters a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and community members. Compensation Details Compensation: $55.88 per contact hour. Contact Hour: Two hours equals one contact hour. Hours: Maximum of 12 contact hours per week. Part time. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in Nursing. At least two (2) years of nursing practice experience as a registered nurse. Licenses and Certifications Current Ohio RN licensure in good standing. State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to obtain one. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Prior teaching experience. Physical Requirements Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
