Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description

This role focuses on designing and detailing custom machinery for the textile and wastewater industries from concept through completion with minimal supervision. The Mechanical Design Engineer prepares 3D models and detailed drawings, collaborates closely with cross-functional teams and customers, and provides ongoing engineering support to manufacturing and sales to ensure high-quality, reliable equipment.

• Design and detail custom machinery for the textile and wastewater industries from initial concept through final completion with minimal supervision.
• Prepare detailed product designs, including 3D models and engineering drawings, using SolidWorks.
• Develop conceptual designs and convert them into accurate 3D models and complete drawing packages.
• Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to determine product specifications and equipment layouts.
• Evaluate products and designs to ensure they meet quality standards, specifications, and performance requirements.
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during fabrication and assembly.
• Support the sales team by addressing technical questions and providing engineering input for customer proposals and projects.
• Apply mechanical engineering principles to design stainless steel sheet metal components and assemblies.
• Utilize AutoCAD and SolidWorks to update and maintain design documentation and ensure design accuracy.
• Use spreadsheets and documentation tools (such as Excel and Word) to organize design data, calculations, and project records.
• Participate in new product development activities, contributing to innovative machine and equipment designs.
• Identify and implement design improvements that enhance manufacturability, performance, and reliability of machinery.

• Minimum of a 2-year degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.
• 2–5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience in machine design, specifically equipment design for industrial applications.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and creation of detailed engineering drawings.
• Proficient operation of AutoCAD for mechanical design and drafting tasks.
• Experience with stainless steel sheet metal design, including forming and fabrication considerations.
• Strong mechanical design skills with the ability to take projects from concept to completion.
• New product development experience in a mechanical or industrial environment.
• Strong computer skills, including use of Excel and Word for engineering documentation and analysis.
• Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Analytical ability and strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and components.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision while managing multiple design projects.

• Experience designing custom machinery for textile and/or wastewater industry applications.
• Background in conceptual design and transforming concepts into detailed 3D models and drawings.
• Experience collaborating with suppliers and customers to define specifications and requirements.
• Familiarity with evaluating designs against quality standards and customer specifications.
• Comfort working in a growing team environment and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

This position is based in an office environment, where the Mechanical Design Engineer primarily works on a computer using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other engineering software tools. The role involves regular collaboration with internal departments, suppliers, and customers, as well as providing support to manufacturing and sales. The team is growing, offering opportunities to contribute to new projects and process improvements within a professional and supportive setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spartanburg, SC.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Spartanburg,SC.
