Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner In Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

As part of a dynamic team at Charles River Community Health (CRCH), the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry will provide exceptional integrated behavioral health services to children and adolescents under the age of 18 as part of a multidisciplinary team of providers across the health center. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will assess patients, and provide evidence-based pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical interventions as indicated, and will track and assess their effectiveness.

This is a part-time role (8-12 hours per week) with flexible scheduling!

Your responsibilities include:

• Evaluate and treat patients under the age of 18, providing psychiatric assessment/care and health education services
• Prescribe medications including controlled substances utilizing evidence-based medicine.
• Provide consultation to nurses to triage patients who call or walk in to the Health Center.
• Manage and follow-up on patients through Electronic Medical Records.
• Maintain continuity of care when Health Center patients utilize other health care facilities (i.e., referrals, emergency room services, hospital outpatient departments, specialty clinics and inpatient services).
• Refer patients for specialty services, in consultation with M.D., and provide documentation according to Health Center policies, procedures and follow-up on results.
• Participate in on-site and off-site continuing education programs and ensure training to maintain licensure.
• Participate in annual performance evaluations for self, as well as providing input in peer review activities.
• Educate patients and family members about mental health and medical conditions, preventive health measures, medications, or treatment plans.
• Provide appropriate health screenings as a baseline prior to psychopharmacology management.
• Work closely in collaboration with BH clinicians around referrals generated for medication evaluation, and follow medication management visits.
• Meet clinical standard of productivity as specified in employment agreement: 90% clinical time, 10% case management; see 7-8 patients per 4-hour clinical session.
• Other duties as assigned by Director of Behavioral Health, Chief Clinical Officer, or designee.

Your qualifications, competencies, traits include:

• Active license to practice psychiatry in Massachusetts
• Active Board certification PMHNP
• At least 2 years of demonstrated experience for working with children and adolescents.
• Prior ambulatory experience preferred.
• Fluency in English and Spanish or Portuguese preferred.
• Experience in diverse cultures preferred.
• Must believe in the work we do at CRCH, with a strong passion to serve underserved populations in diverse settings.
