Custodian / Janitorial Staff

Synergy West Chester, PA

Reports To: Operations Manager

Location: Multiple Synergy properties West Chester, PA

Classification: Part-Time, Hourly

Shifts: Overnight or early morning

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Custodian / Janitorial Staff member is responsible for keeping Synergys office and common spaces clean, safe, and presentable across multiple properties. This person works independently during off-hours, follows a clear scope of work, and takes pride in leaving every space better than they found it.

Synergy is a recovery residential organization the people living in our properties are working hard to rebuild their lives. This role requires discretion, professionalism, and genuine respect for that environment. Beyond the core cleaning responsibilities, this person is expected to be flexible and willing to adapt as the needs of the operations team evolve.

SCOPE OF WORK

Floors & Surfaces

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum all floors in office and common areas.
• Wipe down and disinfect countertops, tables, desks, and high-touch surfaces.
• Dust shelving, fixtures, baseboards, and vents.

Restrooms

• Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, mirrors, and fixtures.
• Restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper using Synergy-provided supplies.
• Remove trash and replace liners.

Kitchen & Common Areas

• Wipe down appliances, counters, and cabinet fronts in shared kitchen spaces.
• Clean interior glass and windows in common areas.
• Remove all trash throughout the property and replace liners.

Walkthroughs & Reporting

• Note and promptly report anything damaged, broken, or out of the ordinary to the Operations Manager this role is often the first set of eyes in a space.
• Complete assigned properties thoroughly each shift and flag any areas requiring follow-up.

Supply & Equipment Management

• Use Synergy-provided cleaning supplies and equipment responsibly; keep equipment clean and properly stored after each shift.
• Communicate proactively when supplies are running low so restocking can happen before shortages occur.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience & Education

• Prior custodial, janitorial, or facilities cleaning experience is required must be able to work independently and efficiently without supervision.
• Familiarity with standard cleaning products, equipment, and sanitation practices.

Skills & Attributes

• Reliable and punctual overnight and early morning shifts require strong self-accountability and consistency.
• Flexible and adaptable willing to adjust to changing needs, take on additional tasks, and support the broader operations team as priorities shift.
• Respectful and discreet comfortable working in a recovery residential environment and understands the importance of professionalism around residents.

Additional Requirements

• Drivers license preferred some shifts may require travel between Synergy properties.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and perform physical cleaning tasks throughout a full shift.
