Description:
Unit has 4 beds in the main operating room and 8 beds in an additional pavilion.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1, with nurses circulating and scrub techs available.
The electronic medical record system used is Cerner Surginet.
The charge nurse does not take patients or cases.
Weekend work is not required, but holidays are covered by call.
Scrub colors are provided by the facility.
Call rotation is one shift per week and every fourth weekend.
Shifts can start between 6 AM and 9 AM with no evening or weekend shifts.
Floating to other units is not required.
There is a one week paperwork orientation and one week partnered with a preceptor.
The main patient population includes orthopedic cases such as total hip and knee replacements.
Neurosurgery and orthopedic spine, cardiovascular, general, gynecological, urological, and ENT cases are also common.
An average of 15-25 cases are performed each day, totaling approximately 400 per month.
20-25% of cases are inpatient.
Only cases requiring cardiovascular or robotic experience will be assigned to skilled individuals.
All anesthesia is administered by anesthesiologists.
Critical patients are transferred directly to ICU from the operating room.
The facility prefers candidates who can commit to 26-week contracts.
There is a cancellation policy in place allowing for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment.
This role is performed in an acute care setting.
