Advise Visa’s dispute resolution team and support other core Visa products and services Report to a Senior Managing Counsel on the Global Core Product, IP & Services Legal Team Work with business and technology teams to understand and achieve key business objectives Help develop compelling product and service offerings Provide sophisticated and creative counseling, focusing on risk and compliance Act as lead counsel while coordinating with subject matter experts and regional legal teams globally Draft, negotiate, and complete complex commercial agreements Support business relationships after contract execution Manage client relationships and provide day-to-day legal support and counseling Support product development, external-facing communications, global compliance checks, policy development and management, escalation management, agreement negotiation and interpretation, and other legal matters Lead legal review and approval of product-related marketing materials, public relations materials, presentations, and other product-team content Create and update guidelines and templates and drive process improvements Requirements At least 7 years of relevant work experience 8+ years of relevant legal experience, including in-house, law firm, government, or regulatory experience Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school Admitted to bar in good standing or eligible for registered in-house counsel in the state where this role is located Experience with payments disputes or in the payments, financial services, technology, or fintech industries preferred but not required Demonstrated ability to understand underlying technical aspects and use cases of software-based products and solutions Ability to provide clear, practical, business-oriented legal advice to product, technical, and commercial stakeholders Strong drafting, negotiation, communication, project management, and collaboration skills Litigators welcome to apply Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and challenging environment Good judgment and strong analytical, client counseling, and negotiation skills Self-motivated, optimistic, curious, and collaborative team player Ability to travel 5–10% of the time Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in providing legal counsel on complex commercial agreements, risk management, and compliance within the payments and financial services sectors.
