Department: Kinesiology & Health College: College of Education & Human Development Campus: Atlanta Position Type: Full Time Faculty Posting Type: Internal/External About the Department: The Department of Kinesiology and Health is home to the Exercise Science undergraduate program, one of the most popular majors at Georgia State University, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Exercise Science. The Kinesiology and Health Department annually serves over 1,000 graduate and undergraduate students in Exercise Science, Health and Physical Education, and Sports Administration, with a reputation for excellent teaching in a diverse student body. Faculty have a history of securing external funding from the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Education, corporations, and various private agencies and organizations. The faculty also collaborate with multiple organizations on and off the university campus. The department supports state-of-the-art research and teaching laboratories in biomechanics, applied physiology, cardiovascular physiology, muscle biology, sports business, and physical education pedagogy. Position Description: The Department of Kinesiology and Health in the College of Education and Human Development at Georgia State University invites applications for a full-time, 10-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in the Fall of 2027. Seeking candidates with a research focus related to exercise science, applied physiology, or performance. Those with a research focus related to physiology of aging, exercise and nutrition, pulmonary physiology, and strength and conditioning are encouraged to apply. Develop, pursue, and maintain an externally funded research line. Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in exercise physiology and related areas (2-2 teaching load, teaching summer courses may be available on an annual basis). Mentor and direct graduate students' theses and dissertations. Supervise undergraduate student research fellowships or internships. Provide service to the department, college, university, and profession. Required Education: Earned Ph.D. in exercise physiology, exercise science, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution by the start of the position. At least two years of post-doctoral training. Ongoing record of scholarly work as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and abstracts / presentations at professional conferences. Rigorous and highly productive line of research with strong potential for external funding. Excellent teaching experience in exercise science or related areas. Research focus on physiological responses in human participants. Ability to collaborate with faculty within and outside the department. Evidence of prior grant writing and submission.
