Job Description – CLINICAL RESEARCH COORDINATOR II (T236538) Overview The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Med– Cardiovascular Disease, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II to join our multidisciplinary Cardiovascular Clinical and Translational Research Program to support NIH and industry-sponsored clinical trials. General Responsibilities Serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed. Support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance. Conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Assist with the study life cycle from start‑up to closure: collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow‑up with participants, scheduling visits and coordinating lab and fieldwork. Key Duties & Responsibilities Prepare for study monitoring visits, conduct timely follow‑up phone calls with study subjects to check on health status after completion of study visits. Educate study participants about informed consent procedures and the protection of privacy. Assist the PI in conducting clinical studies according to FDA/IRB regulations and guidelines. Closely monitor research participants to ensure their safety and welfare. Obtain informed consent, schedule visits with the clinical research unit and exercise centers. Create and manage the RedCap database for recording participant data from each study visit. Perform data entry, data management, descriptive data analysis, and prepare data for manuscripts, meetings, and presentations. Handle IRB submissions and register new studies on ClinicalTrials.gov. Pre‑screen and screen patients through participant interviews and the administration of standardized questionnaires. Verify patient eligibility for the trials. Process research specimens and run state‑of‑the‑art assays for circulating natriuretic peptide levels. Collect, process, ship, and store specimens to the appropriate laboratory according to established sterile techniques. Perform other duties as assigned. Annual Salary Range $50,050–$81,330 Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for the education requirement. Preferences Interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Written and verbal communication skills.
