Facilities ManagerIn this management (at-will) position, you will manage, supervise, and coordinate the activities and operations of all physical properties owned and operated by the City of Colorado Springs, including providing professional and technical assistance to staff. See the full potential of growth for this position here: 2026 Salary Schedule.As a Facilities Manager, you will:Assume management responsibility for the operation and maintenance of buildings, structures, grounds, infrastructure, snow removal, security systems, fire suppression and detection systems, and elevatorsAnalyze costs to replace or repair equipment; make recommendations as appropriateDevelop and administer the annual budget; participate in the forecasting of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustmentsManage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs; recommend and administer policies and proceduresPlan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for staff; assign work activities, projects, and programs; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problemsSelect, train, motivate, and evaluate personnel; provide and/or coordinate staff training; implement discipline and termination proceduresPerform other duties as assignedLearn more about this job by reviewing the class specification on the City of Colorado Springs Class Specifications pageWe are looking for candidates who demonstrate:Operation characteristics, services, and activities of a facilities maintenance programPhysical plant operationsFacilities construction methods, materials, and equipmentPurchasing and service contract principles and policiesPertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulationsPrinciples and practices of municipal budget preparation and administrationStay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of facilities and grounds maintenanceAnalyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goalsCommunicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writingEstablish and maintain effective working relationshipsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, or a related field.Six (6) years of full-time professional facility maintenance operations or related experienceTwo years of administrator and/or supervisory experiencePreferred QualificationsThe following qualifications are not required, but they are considered desirable.
