As an Outside Machinist, you will:Perform a variety of skilled mechanical duties involving deck machinery, engine room work, general dock, rudders, shafting, propeller work, and testingUse knowledge of equipment operation for assembly, installation and testingPerform valve and pump repair and overhaulRepair ship components using blueprints, sketches and sample partsWork with rudders, shafts, propellers and deck machineryPerform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machineryRequired Education, Experience, & Skills Required Education, Experience and SkillsHigh School Diploma or GED or equivalentRead, write and comprehend simple instructionsApply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram formAble to calculate and understand units of measure, including fractions and decimalsKnow how to measure using a scale and tape measureRead, understand, and interpret advanced blueprints to preform task requiredUse of measuring devices (rulers, micrometers, dial indicators, depth mics, scales, etc.), hand tools, and power toolsAbility to read and interpret blueprintsAble to wear appropriate protective gearAble to physically perform essential job duties with or without accommodationsAble to work at heights, in confined spaces and have the ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizesTrained in all annual NAVSEA Standard ItemsPay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $57720 - $88483Employee Benefits: At BAE Systems, we support our employees in all aspects of their life, including their health and financial well-being.
