Role Description The Speech Language Pathologist is a contract, on-site role based at Lake Forest Charter in New Orleans, LA. The individual in this role will assess, diagnose, and treat students with communication and language disorders, including speech sound production issues, expressive and receptive language delays, and fluency and voice disorders. Daily responsibilities include conducting screenings and formal evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, delivering direct and indirect therapy services, and monitoring student progress. The Speech Language Pathologist will collaborate with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support academic and social success, participate in IEP meetings, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with all applicable school, state, and federal regulations. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in speech therapy, including assessment, intervention, and progress monitoring for school-age learners. Skills in addressing speech sound production and clarity, with the ability to support students’ intelligibility and oral communication in educational settings. Experience in evaluating and treating dysphagia and related feeding or swallowing concerns, and collaborating with healthcare providers when needed. Knowledge of communication disorders, including fluency, voice, and pragmatic language, and ability to tailor interventions to individual student needs. Proficiency in identifying and treating language disorders, including receptive and expressive language challenges that impact classroom performance. Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program and current state licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in Louisiana. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA or strong progress toward completion of clinical fellowship preferred. Experience working in school-based or pediatric settings and familiarity with IDEA, IEP processes, and special education procedures. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators.
