About the Role
The Company is in search of a General Counsel with a strong background in property and casualty insurance, particularly with experience in IPO or publicly-traded insurance companies. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all legal and regulatory aspects of the organization, providing strategic legal advice to ensure compliance with all legal standards, and managing a wide range of legal matters including corporate governance, risk mitigation, and dispute resolution. This role offers significant autonomy, a pivotal leadership position, and the opportunity to operate across various legal dimensions in a fast-growing, technology-focused environment. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should be highly motivated and experienced legal professionals with a proven track record in the insurance industry. The role requires the ability to advise senior leadership and the Board on complex legal, strategic, and governance issues, as well as to establish and maintain governance frameworks and ensure compliance with evolving insurance laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a background in drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements, leading risk management processes, and providing legal counsel on employment and HR-related matters. Additionally, the role involves supporting corporate transactions and building and leading an in-house legal and compliance team. A strong educational background in law, with a focus on insurance or related fields, is essential.
