Basic Function: The school nurse is responsible for promoting the health and well-being of students and staff within the school community. This role involves providing medical care, managing health records, administering medications, and educating students and staff on health-related topics.

Essential Functions

1. Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.

2. Administer medications to student/staff and monitor for reactions or side effects.

3. Record student medical information and vital signs.

4. Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in student conditions.

5. Consult and coordinate with team members (including but not limited to student services, teachers, security, school administrations, parents, and health practitioner) to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate student care plans.

6. Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.

7. Prepare student for and assist with examinations, evaluations, or treatments.

8. Instruct individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education and disease prevention and develop health improvement programs and communications.

9. Conduct routine health screenings and assessments, including vision, hearing, and growth measurements, to monitor students' health status.

10.Perform all other related educational service duties as required or directed
