Your Role:

Under the guidance of the non-invasive cardiology supervisor, the echocardiography team is responsible for conducting a variety of echocardiograms. This includes 2D, M-Mode, color Doppler, pulse wave Doppler, continuous wave Doppler, transesophageal echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, and other related assessments, all performed in accordance with established standards and practices at a high level of technical proficiency.

Qualifications for the Role:

• Completion of an associate degree in echocardiography or an accredited training program is preferred; a High School Diploma and/or GED is required.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Familiarity with equipment such as Philips ie33 and EPIQ, TEE probes (including sterilization processes), and Epic is preferred.
• Proficiency in typing and computer skills is advantageous.
• A minimum of one year of hospital experience is preferred.

• Accurately completes forms, records, and logs for billing purposes.
• Prepares echocardiographic worksheets for physician review and interpretation.
• Contributes to the department's Quality Assurance process through precise and timely data collection.
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently while fostering positive professional relationships with colleagues, physicians, and patients.
• Completes tasks autonomously, collaborates effectively in a team, and takes direction from supervisors, patients, and the public in a courteous manner.
• Addresses conflicts and utilizes the chain of command to achieve favorable outcomes.
• Exhibits sound judgment in response to STAT calls and effectively prioritizes both urgent and routine requests.
• Demonstrates technical expertise in all echocardiographic procedures.
• Employs critical thinking skills to evaluate patient conditions and provide additional views that assist cardiologists in treatment.
• Manages supplies and documentation within budget constraints.
• Participates in required continuing education and completes all mandatory training for the facility and department.
• Responsible for patient preparation, including assessing NPO compliance, patient transport, electrode placement, blood pressure cuff application, ensuring IV access if necessary, securing EKG monitoring equipment, remaining with the patient at all times, assisting under the direction of an RN, and maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
