JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN II EXEMPT: NOREPORTS TO: Supervisor JOB SUMMARY: The Landscape Maintenance Technician II will be responsible for maintaining the landscape and grounds of industrial, commercial, residential, retail or public properties. This includes mowing turf areas, trimming plants, and basic care of garden equipment. The Landscape Maintenance Technician II will also maintain a constant watch for safety problems and notify their supervisor immediately of any unsafe working conditions or practices observed in the work area. Level II: Applies skills and job knowledge in area of specialization; may adapt procedures, operations, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet needs of landscape maintenance; may work on non-routine tasks; resolves issues-makes working decisions within area of specialization or responsibility with minimal supervision.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Mowing lawns and turf areasTrimming plantsRemoving Weeds CleaningBasic care of garden equipment Riding in company vehicle to job sites Maintaining a constant watch for safety problemsNotifying supervisor immediately of unsafe working conditions or practices observed in the work area Additional Responsibilities:Performing basic pruning skills as necessary Using various hand tools to perform maintenance tasks Following oral directions to successfully perform job duties Reading a limited number of two and three-syllable words and recognizing similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers Printing and speaking simple sentences Adding and subtracting two-digit numbers and multiplying and dividing with 10's and 100's Applying common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral and written instructions Dealing with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations   Qualifications:Knowledge and ability to use various hand toolsAble to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily Ability to follow oral and written directionAble to correctly operate mechanical equipment required for mowing, trimming, and cleaning Thorough knowledge of shrub and tree pruning Ability to recognize common pests and decease Education and/or Experience:One year related experience and or training, equivalent combination of education experience Physical Demands:Standing, walking, using hands to fingers, handling, or feeling objects, tools or controls Frequently reaching with hands and arms and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawlingOccasionally sitting and climbing or balancing Regularly lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, frequently lifting or moving up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusWork Environment:Working in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions Frequently working near sharp mechanical parts Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic, or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shockLoud noise level in the work environmentFollow company core values; Safety, Teamwork, Integrity, Quality, & Service Paid Holiday:Employee's will receive regular pay for selected holidays, must work the day before and the day after the holiday in order to receive pay. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by and employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.
