Cook Position at Grandhaven Senior Living

Grandhaven Senior Living is looking for a Cook to join our growing team! The right candidate will have experience as a Cook and will be responsible for the preparation of meals for our community.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that food is prepared safely, efficiently and according to specifications or requests.
• Operates in accordance with all applicable health, safety, and hygiene codes and standards.
• Participate in department staff meetings and applicable resident committee meetings.
• Ensures the highest quality of customer services for all residents.
• Prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner following recipes and presentation specifications.
• Document temperatures of food prior to service, refrigeration and freezer temperatures on Temperature Logs.
• Cleans, cuts, prepares, and cooks meat, fish, or poultry to a safe temperature.
• Prepares and cooks various items according to menus, special dietary or nutritional requirements, or numbers of portions to be served.
• Apportions and serves food to residents and ensures that snacks and beverages are available to residents at all times.
• Assists with developing, compiling, and maintaining food records regarding use and expenditures as well as food records in regard to residents’ dietary requirements.
• Inventories supplies and equipment.
• Assists in determining meals and menus.

Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Certification:
• Serv-Safe Certified (or equivalent) or will obtain within 30 days, required.
• CPR Certification required (within 60 days of hire)
• First Aid Certification required (within 60 days of hire)
• Experience:
• 1 year of professional cooking experience is required, preferably in hospitality or healthcare setting.
