Senior Water/Wastewater Process Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Process Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex water and wastewater treatment projects. This role will support clients and project teams through the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and process selection to detailed design, construction support, commissioning, and operational optimisation. The successful candidate will apply strong technical judgement to develop practical, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions for municipal and industrial treatment systems.


Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing process calculations, design criteria, mass balances, process flow diagrams, equipment specifications, technical reports, and tender documentation. You will evaluate treatment technologies, hydraulic and process performance, energy efficiency, and regulatory requirements, while coordinating with civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and environmental disciplines. The role will also involve mentoring junior engineers, reviewing technical deliverables, contributing to proposals and business development activities, managing tasks and budgets, and maintaining effective communication with clients, contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders. Occasional site visits may be required to support investigations, construction activities, plant upgrades, troubleshooting, and commissioning.


Applicants should hold a bachelor's or master's degree in chemical, environmental, civil, or process engineering, or a closely related discipline, together with substantial experience in water and/or wastewater treatment design. Professional registration or eligibility for registration is preferred. You will need a strong understanding of treatment processes such as clarification, biological treatment, membrane systems, disinfection, sludge processing, and nutrient removal, as well as applicable codes, standards, and environmental regulations. Experience with process modelling, design software, technical reporting, and project delivery is highly desirable. Strong analytical, organisational, communication, and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
